Where Pump House is, and how it got its name
Pump House is less a formal locality than the name locals use for the streets around Jijamata Road and Vijay Raut Marg, on the northern edge of Andheri East where it meets Jogeshwari East. In the 1960s the BMC built a large pumping station here to move water from Vaitarna lake towards the city, and the nickname stuck. The station still runs. At the centre sits Salsette Parsi Colony, about four acres of row houses, mid-rise wings and newer towers around the Seth Ardeshir Bhicajee Patel Dadgah, a fire temple consecrated in January 2000. Residents call the whole enclave Pump House, and the nearest bus stop is still signed Old Pump House.
Addresses blur at the edges. Trovit lists flats in the Vastu complexes near the highway under both Andheri East and Jogeshwari East, so check the ward and the property card rather than the listing headline.
Gulmohar trees line the colony’s lanes.
We cross-checked the location against three sources, a July 2025 profile of the colony, Moovit’s transit data and a map listing for a dairy on Jijamata Road, and all three place Pump House in the 400093 pin code.
Pump House connectivity: metro, rail and road
The nearest metro stops are Gundavali on Line 7 and Western Express Highway on Line 1, about 1.1 km or a 12-minute walk away, and a foot overbridge links the two. Many locals still call Gundavali the Bisleri stop. Mogra, the next Line 7 station north, is about 1.6 km off.
For the suburban railway, Jogeshwari station is about 1.5 km away, a little under 20 minutes on foot. The Western Express Highway is a two-minute turn from the colony gates and JVLR about ten minutes. BEST routes 339, 392, A-441 and AC-72 serve the Pump House stop. For the airport, take Line 1 east to Marol Naka and change to the Aqua Line for both terminals.
Your office decides which route matters. For SEEPZ or MIDC, Line 1 gets you to Marol Naka, with a short Aqua Line hop beyond it, and you never touch the highway. For BKC or Lower Parel, the highway is quicker outside peak hours. Line 7 heads north towards Dahisar for the other direction.
Metro Line 6 along JVLR wasn’t running as of September 2026 and had no confirmed opening date, so don’t pay a premium for it yet.
Hospitals within about a kilometre include Raksha Multispeciality and SevenHills, and Holy Spirit Hospital on Mahakali Caves Road is a short drive. NoBroker lists Holy Family High School and Canossa High School among the schools around neighbouring Gundavali.
Property prices and rents in Pump House
The one new project we found is Inspire Residency by Sardar Realty on Vijay Raut Marg, off Jijamata Road, under MahaRERA P51800046897. JLL Homes lists a 412 sq ft 1 BHK at ₹1.08 crore and 2 BHKs of 571 and 672 sq ft at ₹1.49 and ₹1.75 crore, with a December 2026 date. The listing doesn’t say whether those sizes are carpet, so confirm them on MahaRERA. Beyond that, most homes here sit in older housing societies, such as those around Hanjer Nagar and Apna Ghar Colony, and few are listed online with prices.
Rents line up with those prices. A 700 sq ft 2 BHK in the Vastu Complex at Apna Ghar Colony listed at ₹70,000 a month on Trovit this month. On a ₹1.75 crore purchase, that’s a gross yield of about 4.8%, above the 4.17% Andheri East average Square Yards reported for June 2026. It’s one listing, not a trend, and past yields are no promise of future ones. Our guide to rents in Andheri East has the wider picture.
Our view: Pump House is good value for buyers who will use the metro and the highway every day, and who can accept a thin choice of new buildings. If you need a large new home with a full amenity deck, look further south instead. Compare it with nearby pockets in our Andheri East rate per sq ft guide.
Bottom line: Pump House offers a highway-and-metro address at below-average rates, with very little new supply. Check the ward, the area basis and the MahaRERA record before you compare prices.
